1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how FGC Okigwe 2001 Set ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects personal information submitted through this website, fgcokigwe2001.com. We are an alumni association of Federal Government College Okigwe, class of 2001, operating a fundraising campaign to restore and upgrade our alma mater.
By using this site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.
2. Information We Collect
We collect personal information only when you actively provide it:
- Contact form — your name, email address, subject, and message when you send us an enquiry.
- Donation form— your name and email address to generate a payment reference and send you a confirmation. Payment card details are entered directly into Paystack's secure checkout and are never transmitted to or stored on this website.
- Cookies and analytics — with your consent, we may collect anonymised usage data (pages visited, time on site) through analytics tools. See Section 5 for details.
We do not collect sensitive personal data (national ID numbers, bank details, health information) and do not run any user registration or account system.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information you provide is used only for the following purposes:
- To process and acknowledge your donation.
- To send you a transaction confirmation email after a successful payment.
- To respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form.
- To understand how our site is used and make improvements (only if you have accepted analytics cookies).
We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing, and we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
4. Payment Processing
All donations are processed by Paystack(paystack.com), a PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor. When you click "Donate", you are redirected to a Paystack-hosted checkout flow. Your card number, CVV, and bank details are entered directly on Paystack's servers and are never seen or stored by this website.
We receive only a transaction reference number and your email address from Paystack to confirm that a payment was completed. You should review Paystack's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle your payment data.
6. Data Sharing
We share personal data with Paystack solely for the purpose of processing donations, as described in Section 4. No other third party receives your personal data. We do not use third-party advertising networks or data brokers.
7. Data Retention
We retain donation records (name, email, transaction reference, and amount) for a period of five (5) years from the date of donation, in line with standard financial record-keeping requirements.
Contact form messages are retained for up to twelve (12) months and then deleted unless ongoing correspondence requires longer retention.
8. Your Rights
Under the Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — you may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure — you may request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal retention obligations.
